You are the expert in your life story and as Brene Brown states, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing that we will ever do”. I honor the opportunity to work with you, your child, individual, and/or family to create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment, where you can rejoice in exploring your inner strengths, core beliefs and source of resilience to work through the challenges faced and the needs you’ve identified. When working with children I use Child Centered Play Therapy, and with families of younger children I include Filial Therapy. Overall, these modalities and others used in our sessions will be person centered and holistic in mind. For teens and older, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused and strength-based counseling will also be utilized to support in your healing journey.
My life experiences have inspired a dedication of over 20 years working in the education field with those ages 6months to 18years, along with their families, care givers, teachers and community. My formal education consists of a BA in Psychology with an added focus on Multicultural Counseling, from George Mason University, 1998. A MED in Counseling and Development, from the same university awarded in 2007, licenses as a Professional Counselor and Professional School Counselor.
