I am a clinical psychologist with decades of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and families. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from Clark University, interned at Boston Children’s Hospital, was a postdoctoral fellow at the Menninger Clinic, and am a graduate of the Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis. I was a member of the staff of the Menninger Clinic for three decades where I served as Chief Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Service, directed a residential treatment unit, and was on the faculties of the school of psychiatry and psychology postdoctoral training program. Over the last 20 years, I have been engaged in private practice, been a Visiting Professor at Ben Gurion University in Israel, and provided courses and workshops for numerous professional organizations.
My practice has been divided equally between adults and children and has involved diagnostic consultations, individual and family therapy, and consultation to organizations and to other mental health professionals. Although familiar with a wide range of techniques, I am committed to psychoeducational approaches to therapy that provide parents with tools to assist their children and adults with an understanding of the nature of their problems and ways in which they can take charge of their treatment. I typically see clients in face-to-face sessions, but also provide treatment online should their schedules or life circumstances make coming to the office difficult for them.
